Sat July 5, 2008
Destination: Rochester, NY
stayed at state park
morning: breakfast at the skinny pancake
eric made danbee an ericature, quick sketch of boys
drove through upstate new york, adirondacks
lots of dairies
winding roads through old growth forest and lakes in the adirondacks
few restrooms or restaurants (or towns)
got on new york state thruway (toll)
got off in Rochester
bought bread and cheese
went to nearby state park — fireworks just ending
nice ranger
stargazing

Sun July 6, 2008
Destination: stayed south of Cleveland
stayed at Findley State Park
went to Niagara Falls
Erie, PA — bought Krispy Kreme
got to Cleveland film/coffee shop but crappy wifi/closing soon (had toddy, though)
figured out another wifi location
went to Union, a gay/video bar — awesome — playing showtunes
went to Findley State Park
Set up/checked in, wandered through some trails to try to find lake then watched Les Paul documentary and ate donuts

stayed with Vibha
drove to Toledo and ate Steak and Shake
drove to East Lansing and met Vibha
mate with vibha
toured Michigan State campus
got soft serve ice cream
visited co-op
watched End Game
made food
watched Planet Earth

stayed with Claire
drove to Indianapolis
stopped in Fort Wayne for Little Caesar’s pizza
arrived at Claire’s
played with Claire’s puppy
went to eat Indian food in thunderstorm

went to Claire’s and made brats
watched Heathers
hung out with Claire and Pat (?)

Destination: Chicago, IL
stayed with Ross Goodwin
got up early, showered, did some dishes, packed up, and left Claire’s apartment
drove to grandparents #1
talked about grandmother’s stroke
talked about corn
toured sheds, fields
went to grandfather’s house in Frankfort
ate amazing lunch
talked about boating, farming, Michigan
looked at photos
drove to West Lafayette
wandered around Happy Hollow Elementary and playground
went to Happy Hollow Park
went to Purdue University and fountains
looked at Von’s
got root beer at Triple XXX
went toward Chicago and got good pie at Baker’s Square
drove to Chicago
storm rolled in on outskirts of Chicago
looked for Polish restaurants
chose one and went there
kitchen was closed
went to IHOP and arranged to meet Ross because all couchsurfing fell through
went to the theatre district and parked for $29/24hrs
got security’d and crashed at Ross’s dorm room
